2020 Appointment of New Chair and Vice Chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force

March 17, 2020 –  The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (Task Force) today announced the appointments of Alex H. Krist, M.D., M.P.H., as chair and Carol M. Mangione, M.D., M.S.P.H., as vice chair. Karina W. Davidson, Ph.D., M.A.Sc., will remain in her role as vice chair. Dr. Krist will assume the role of chair from Douglas K. Owens, M.D., M.S., who will now serve as the immediate past chair.

Dr. Krist served as vice chair from 2018 to 2020 and as a member of the Task Force from 2015 to 2018. He is a professor of family medicine and population health at Virginia Commonwealth University and is an active clinician and teacher at the Fairfax Family Practice Residency. He is director of the Virginia Ambulatory Care Outcomes Research Network and director of community-engaged research at the Center for Clinical and Translational Research.
