August 20, 2024 – The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force released today a final recommendation statement on screening and supplementation for iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy. The Task Force found that more research is needed to determine whether or not pregnant people should be screened for iron deficiency or take iron supplements.
