Helicobacter Pylori Infection: Screening

Recommendations made by the USPSTF are independent of the U.S. government. They should not be construed as an official position of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

A draft research plan for screening for helicobacter pylori (h. pylori) infection was posted to the Task Force website for public comment on November 17, 2022. While we care deeply about learning more about this topic, the Task Force has determined that it will not move directly into the final research plan stage and evidence review at this time.

The Task Force maintains a portfolio of over 80 topics, and new topics are balanced with critical updates of existing topics during the prioritization process. Details about our prioritization process, including ensuring a balanced portfolio, can be found in the Task Force procedure manual.

The Task Force remains committed to this important topic. To stay up to date on the USPSTF's work on screening for h. pylori infection and all other Task Force topics, sign up for USPSTF email updates.
