July 14, 2020 – Today, Annals of Internal Medicine published a paper on the methods the Task Force uses to incorporate social determinants of health into its evidence-based recommendations. The paper, entitled “Developing Primary Care–Based Recommendations for Social Determinants of Health: Methods of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force,” is authored by current and former members of the Task Force and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Key focus areas of the paper include: • The social determinants of health that are currently incorporated in Task Force recommendations on preventive care. • A proposed approach to incorporate other social determinants in future Task Force recommendations.
