October 11, 2022 – The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force released today a final recommendation statement on screening for depression and suicide risk in children and adolescents. The Task Force determined that screening can help identify depression in children 12 and older. More research is needed to recommend for or against screening in younger children and screening all youth for suicide risk. To view the recommendation, the evidence on which it is based, and a summary for clinicians, please go here. The final recommendation statement can also be found in the October 11 online issue of JAMA.
